President Emmanuel Macron visited the headquarters of the powerful Freemason organization Grand Lodge of France (GLDF) on May 5, 2025. He asked them in a speech for their help to take a leading role to combat the growing influence of conspiracy theorists and their alternative narratives.

According to sources, this was the first time ever a sitting French president addressed this Masonic organization.

Macron said in the speech that he wants the Freemasons to act as “ambassadors for secularism” and defend the spirit of the law against “extremism, religious fundamentalism, and misinterpretations.”

“In the face of ideologies that threaten the universal values of the Republic, especially from certain extremisms, we must resist,” said Macron.

He also urges the Freemasons to stand up against the spread of conspiracy theories, including those often targeted at the Freemasons themselves, and to contribute “reason” and “facts” to public debate and combat conspiracy theories.

Macron said, “We must combat the spread of conspiracy theories that divide our society and weaken democracy.”

The French president – who worked at the investment bank Rothschild & Cie before entering politics – warned against ideologies (especially from the USA) that threaten the republic’s universal values, and wants the Freemasons to uphold the legacy of the Enlightenment. “We must defend the legacy of the Enlightenment: reason, science, equality,” said Macron.

Macron said also that “Freemasons are ambassadors of secularism, defenders of the law against extremism and religious fundamentalism.”

Freemasonry as a phenomenon is a secret association often of elite people in society, who organize themselves in secrecy and have an enormous influence and power over society behind the scenes.

Often under the cover of “democracy” so that it sounds better for the common people, so they imagine that they are the real power of society with their ballot paper, when in reality it is completely other shadowy forces who decide everything and create narratives that the ordinary people are supposed to relate to.

This is something that conspiracy theorists try to enlighten the public about with alternative narratives, by pointing out that, consequently, there is no real democracy, and that Freemasonry and its enormous influence – particularly over politicians through “lobbying” – is the proof of this.

Well-known associations that can be linked to Freemasonry, both explicitly and implicitly, include the Illuminati and the Bilderberg Group, just to name a few.

The former US president John F. Kennedy (JFK) warned about Freemasonry as a threat to the real democracy and not the fake one, in the form of “secret societies” and “secret oaths,” in a very famous speech in 1961, two years before he was assassinated.

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings”, said Kennedy among other things.
